We made it to Beijing! The flight itself was not terrible, except the boys slept only 45 minutes (Evan) and 2 hours (Ben). After the flight we had a 30 minute wait in line to have our documents checked, then a tram to baggage claim, then customs. We met our agency and were happy to see the face of our guide George, who we have seen in Beijing for our last 2 adoptions. He took us to our hotel, that in traffic, took 1 hour. By this time, the boys and I had not really slept in 24 hours. Poor Evan had a horrific meltdown for about 20 minutes until he finally fell asleep. I admit I am kind of panicking as we have 2 more LONG travel days ahead of us. He woke up at 1130pm in the hotel and said, “mommy, I don’t know why I was hitting you in George’s car.” It was really sweet. It is now 3am here and Ben and I are up, I got Evan back to sleep and Tom is asleep as well. We are meeting George at 1030am to make our 1250pm train. The train to Zhengzhou is about 3 hours at 180 miles per hour. Then we have to get off the train and taxi to the hotel ourselves, which I am a little worried about, but I am sure we can do it. Then we need to find s shop to buy some fruit and candy to take with us the very next day on our visits to the boys’ institutions where they lived. That day, our guide is meeting us at 730am.... snacks and iPads are our lifeline!
